Dress code 101: what to wear to Dubai’s clubs

Dubai’s nightlife is glamorous, and most doors expect you to dress for it. Here is a simple guide to what to wear — and what will get you turned away.

What is the dress code in Dubai clubs?

The standard is smart or smart-casual. Doors look at the whole outfit: clean, well-fitted clothes and proper shoes. Rules are set by each venue and can be stricter on weekends and at high-end clubs.

What should men wear?

• Smart shoes or clean leather sneakers — no sports trainers.

• Trousers or smart dark jeans.

• A shirt, polo or smart T-shirt.

What should women wear?

• Dresses, skirts or smart trousers with a nice top.

• Heels, sandals or smart flats.

• A light layer — air conditioning can be strong indoors.

What will get you turned away?

• Sportswear, gym clothes and football shirts.

• Flip-flops and slides.

• Shorts for men at nightclubs.

• Caps and hats, or worn and ripped clothing.

Do rooftops and beach clubs have different rules?

Respect local customs
